“The Battle of San Romano” by Paolo Uccello
In the famous museums of Europe – the Louvre. Uffizi, the London National Gallery – stored three paintings by Florentine artist Paolo di Dono, nicknamed Uccello. Created in 1456-1457, they were once on the wall of one of the premises of the Medici house. In the inventory of the property of this family it is indicated that the battle of San Romano is represented in the works, in which the Florentines defeated the troops of the city of Siena. Leah Grundig – the art of anger and struggle
Expressive ink drawings, expressive genre compositions and portraits made with black chalk, aggressive engravings based on the confrontation of light and shadow … figures of the unemployed, touching images of proletarian children and women, exhausted by fear and need. Other sheets show working demonstrations and meetings, heated debates and discussions. The German artist Lea Grundig was vividly and accurately embodied in the plight of the workers and the ripening feeling of protest in their ranks during the dark days of the fascist nightmare. Syrian landscapes
Most of the landscape compositions by Syrian artists are devoted to old Damascus and the village of Maaloula, located in a picturesque mountain area near Damascus. She became a source of inspiration and a place of pilgrimage for Syrian landscape painters. The multi-tiered architecture of rural houses, clinging to the slopes of the mountains and picturesquely piled on top of each other, the romantic landscapes of the surroundings, the fertile valley spreading below, as if embodying the Syrian ideal dream of the beauty of the earth.
